A Transition To Clean Energy

The Rallying Cry!

This past Saturday, tens of thousands of people attended more than 670 events in all 50 states for the Green Jobs Now National Day of Action. The rallying cry: "Hey Washington -- It's time to Repower America with clean, green jobs!"

Wow -- think about that! While the Wall Street mess was dominating every media outlet, thousands upon thousands of people in cities like Topeka and Atlanta and Oakland took time out of their busy Saturdays to call for a new, clean energy economy and the jobs that go with it.

Even if you couldn't make it last weekend, you still can help build momentum for the message. Please take a few minutes to send a letter to the editor at your local newspaper. Just click here:http://www.wecansolveit.org/content/speak-out-for-green-jobs

Why a letter to the editor?

Because it has great reach. More people need to understand that our ticket to economic recovery is a transition to 100% clean energy -- a transition that will not only create millions of new jobs for families across the country but will enhance national security and reduce global warming pollution.

A movement is building. Your voice is important to make it grow further and faster. As the dirty industries of yesterday continue to spend millions on advertising and lobbying to stop the switch to clean energy, we need to explain there's a solution to the woes: Repower America. Please -- send a short note. It's easy:http://www.wecansolveit.org/content/speak-out-for-green-jobs

Note: The Day of Action on Saturday was co-sponsored by Green for All, 1Sky, and us -- the We Campaign. We have some great photos and videos you can check out here:http://greenjobsnow.com/ It'll brighten your day.

And the founder of Green for All, Van Jones, has an important and inspirational new book coming out on Tuesday, called "The Green Collar Economy: How One Solution Can Fix Our Two Biggest Problems." You can preorder it here: http://vanjones.net/book

We highly recommend it. Al Gore says about the book: "Van Jones demonstrates conclusively that the best solutions for the survivability of our planet are also the best solutions for everyday Americans."

The technology to solve some of our many fuel problems is often within grasp, yet not seized. For example, an Atomic Energy Commission official declared: “If we had done the research 15 years ago, we’d have had clean fossil-fuel (conventional coal, oil or gas) plants for the past 10 years.”
Why, then, did the electric power plants not do the research to develop pollution-free facilities? Because it costs money.
Greed rules the world.

Your right Larine. I especially like what you said "fuel problems is often within grasp, yet not seized".
Greed does seem to rule our world.
