America's Animal Shelter Contest
It's here, animal lovers! Care2 has announced America's Favorite Animal Shelter contest! Now you can help your favorite animal shelter or rescue group win $10,000 by helping them get the most votes in the contest! How the contest works:
Anyone can visit http://www.care2.com/animalsheltercontest and select their favorite animal shelter or rescue group. Then, participants encourage neighbors and friends to vote as well, because the shelter or group with the most votes by November 1, 2008 wins $10,000. In addition to the grand prize, Care2 is giving away a total of $5,000 to the next four groups with the highest votes. And, Adopt-a-Pet.com is awarding prizes of $1,000 at random each week during the contest period to ensure every shelter and rescue group has a chance to win. Miami Dade Animal Services is responsible for the animals of one the toughest city in the United States in regards to the overpopulation of animals. Hundreds of animals are at the shelter in any point in time and these funds can really help alleviate the problems of operating a run-down shelter with 34,000 homeless pets a year. Dedicated volunteers and an amazing staff can do the best they can, but with budget cuts, there's only so much that one can do to solve every problem.
