Drought Strikes Ethiopia
Children Need Your Help!
Did you hear the news about the effects of drought and rising food prices in some parts of Ethiopia? If not, you're not alone. The crisis in drought-stricken Ethiopia is headline news, yet few people know the truth of the situation. Sadly, children are the most vulnerable to nutritional deficits and the first to succumb when there is not enough food to go around. The Government of Ethiopia estimates that 75,000 children under the age of five live with severe acute malnutrition. And 25 to 50 percent of children with severe acute malnutrition are likely to die if they don't receive proper treatment. But there is hope for the children of Ethiopia. UNICEF-supported therapeutic feeding programs have been set up around Ethiopia following the establishment of a national protocol for severe acute malnutrition. This approach has revolutionized the treatment of malnutrition in Ethiopia, leading to a significant drop in mortality rates for malnourished children of all ages. Caring about all humanity is part of the humanity that makes us human. Children are always the innocent victims, will certainly pass this story to others. When you decide to throw food away think of other countries like ethiopia and children that do not have the basic nesscities to survuve. PLEASE HELP THE CHILDREN....DO YOUR PART TO HELP MAKE TH EWORLD A BETTER PLACE...FOR US ALL Donate to UNICEF, tell friends and co-workers. Educate my teenage children and thier friends...perhaps they can do something to raise funds and awareness at school. No One should starve. If some governments try and keep food from someone else, then we need to find away to share some food. The foolishness of children and the old trees will outlive us. Make no mistake...we may be mortal but our actions echo in eternity. Do what is just and fair. This is the type of stuff that needs to be in the news: THE TRUTH!! We need to help these poor kids and people!
